Manufacturers like Oticon, Starkey, ReSound, and Phonak all offer technology to connect your Android device to you hearing aids. You can enjoy music and audio streaming directly to your ears, connect to the TV, and even remotely contact a hearing professional to ask for advice or assistance.
Starkey TruLink
Best known for their Made for iPhone hearing aids, Starkey’s TruLink technology works for Android as well! Connecting to your device with Bluetooth, you’ll have access to a lot of helpful tools, like the TruLink Remote that controls volume, settings, and even allows you to mute your hearing aids without having to remove them from your ears. The app also allows you to save settings based on location and this advanced geotagging will save you a lot of time and effort. When you arrive at work, the gym, or home, your preprogramed settings will automatically switch, and you’ll be able to hear clearly without fiddling with any settings. The app also has a hearing aid locator program, so if you misplace a hearing aid, you’ll be able to find it easily, and not waste time looking under all the couch cushions. Unfortunately, this Starkey technology doesn’t yet include direct streaming.
Phonak Remote
Phonak is one of the hearing aid manufacturers that offer connectivity options for Android users. Simply download the Phonak Remote App and take charge. The app includes features like volume control that can be individually controlled for either ears, along with control of directionality microphone settings, allowing you to focus on sounds in front of you, to the sides, or even behind you, all without turning your head. You’ll be able to stream audio and calls directly to your ears, as well as customize your programs and settings. Additionally, you can download the myPhonak app, which will connect you to real-time hearing aid support for those times you need a helping hand.
ReSound Smart 3D App
Many of ReSound’s hearing aids can connect to the ReSound Smart 3D App, and this app is one of the most versatile, compatible with many Android models such as Samsung, Sony, and LG. Along with geotagging that allows you to switch between location-specific settings, and a program for locating a lost hearing aid, the ReSound Smart 3D App also has a tinnitus management program. This app allows you to find relief for your tinnitus, both during the day and at night, and you can choose between preset sounds, white noise, or even your own music, as well as having full control over the volume for the best in tinnitus control. ReSound connectivity features for Android don’t use Bluetooth technology, and you’ll need to use the ReSound Phone Clip+ to connect your phone with your hearing aids.
