Halloween is coming up and fast! Even though it’s usually thought of as a holiday for kids, adults love a good Halloween party with creative costumes too! Costumes are being sold out at costume shops while competitions for best dressed at upcoming parties makes for serious rivalries.

Hearing aids can be concealed or integrated to make stand out and creative costumes. If you want to hide or show off your hearing aid, here are a few ideas to help get you started for this year’s costume shenanigans!

Highlighting Your Hearing Aids

Are you interested in putting your hearing aid on full display as your costume highlight this year? Here are a few tips about how to decorate your hearing aids safely:

1) Bejewelling and stickers
If you are interested in bejewelling and blinging out your hearing aids, make sure to choose stickers or stick-on additions that won’t damage your hearing device. If stickers leave a sticky residue, use rubbing alcohol to carefully clean it off. Stickers or jewels that are generally used on nail art are good options temporary décor!

2) Things to avoid
Be careful to not compromise or obstructing your hearing aid microphone ports. Don’t use liquid glue or paint on your hearing aids since that risks moisture penetrating and damaging the mechanism. Also, be aware to not put anything on the joints that may harm the integrity of your hearing device.

3) Other options
If you’re an Etsy or Pinterest fanatic, there are charms, clip on pieces and covers you can online to add a little more glam to your hearing aids! Whether or not this is for a Halloween costume or year-round wear, there has been a growing popularity for many to making hearing aids more fashionable. In the past few years we have had the Avengers, DC comics, pirate movies, space movies and many other fantastical or science fiction creations that lend themselves to great costume ideas. Costumes that require hairpieces, wigs or full masks to make for a comprehensive costume are great for concealing.
